“Texas could turn blue! Let’s give the illegal aliens amnesty in order to stop it!”
Makes lots of sense.

More people applauded when he quoted his colleague, Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah): Immigrants are assets, not liabilities. We were all immigrants once. And until we get past meaningless platitudes like this one - patently untrue - and learn to look at the issue objectively we'll never make any progress towards a sustainable solution.
Not ALL immigrants are assets. In fact I'd guess MOST these days are NOT, they are a drag.

It is ONLY about the party winning that counts. A message the resonates with a section here at FR.

The more I hear from Ron Paul the more he sounds like his father.

it means we have to be a welcoming party. This does annoy me. We have always been a welcoming party, and we have always been color-blind. What we care about is character and philosophy. If you believe in freedom and the constitution and essential decency, you're one of us.
That Paul thinks he has to lecture us means he doesn't know us. Which for a guy who wants to lead us is odd.

I liked him.
But this is a litmus test issue if ever there was one.

Either you have principles, or you don’t. If you need to weaken your principle to appeal to a certain segment of the population, then you are finished as a party.
I guarantee that if the Republicans took a stand against illegals, and sent them all back home, Texas wouldn’t be in danger of turning Blue.
President Eisenhower know how to keep Texas from going Blue.
Just a side thought. In Russia, the word “blue” is a reference to homosexuality. So I guess the Democrats really are the blue party.

We are honestly ... screwed.
Nothing short of MASS deportations would save us now, and the chance of that happening is nearly zero.
Texas IS going to turn blue, trust me on this. Unless the Republican party does SOMETHING to attract the Hispanic vote. I do not believe that amnesty will do it, in fact amnesty will only speed up the process of Texas turning blue.
I honestly don’t know what the answer is.

The more I hear from Ron Paul the more he sounds like his father. I've never heard anything about Ron Paul's father to know if Ron sounds like him. But Rand Paul sounds a lot like his father. :-)
