Kid was probably angry at the bus driver because he had a job. Makes his daddy look bad.

Bus driver did the right thing.

On the block the kid’s on his way to getting shot down before he’s 25.

Anybody got a problem with that?

“The kid is down, it’s no longer self defense at that point.”

I agree with you here. There is no law that says the kid won't get up again ad press the attack. The driver has to turn his back to the kid to start driving the bus again. Self defense is not over until the kid is incapacitated with something broken or is unconscious.

The bus is not going very fast, and the danger of a renewed attack is far greater than the danger of just letting the bus roll while the driver finishes off the punk.

if he was a teacher it’d be impossible to fire him. didn’t have sex wth him, didn’t murder him, he’d be untouchable.

that said i think this is a case for corporal punishment of the punk kid.

Several years ago a school bus driver in rural Tennessee was shot to death by a 14-year-old high school student.

and teachers. and principals.

if you’d have lipped off to them with vulgarity/swears, they’d have gotten physical with you.

The driver should get his job back. He was forced to defend himself... And it’s a little unfair to excercise 20/20 hindsight on what he ~should~ have done. That’s the thing with defense— you don’t have time to sit and think and decide on the perfect set of responses in just the right order. That he didn’t even think to set the parking brake only backs up his defense position. He was being viciously attacked. He did what he could immediately do. The bus wasn’t moving at the time, so jumping out if his seat wasn’t unreasonable. Had the bus been underway it would have been different but his reaction would probably have been different as well.

It’s easy to sit back and think about a better way to fight back, or stop fighting at a different time but that’s all coming from the luxury of knowing how and when it all ended. He didn’t ruthlessly beat on the kid all that much. He got in his licks and kept the kid from being any further problem. Well done, I’d say.
