Is it just me, or does all the 'gun control rhetoric', balanced with 'that chart', sound more like 'reverse-psychology'???

It’s about power and trust. Gun controllers don’t trust their fellow citizens and want their agents in the gov to have maximum power over the citizenry. They package their propaganda to hide the real purpose/effect of what their laws actually do. Which leads to the “reversing” that you note.
