Great points... I have a masonry heater in my house, and I toss in all sorts of stuff that probably wouldn’t burn well in an “approved” stove. It burns hot, and it burns down to nothing but fine white ash.
My outdoor central boiler will burn anything. I stack the new on top of the burning, and by the time its turn comes around, it’s dried out.
I’d have a backup supply of coal if anyone in our area still sold it. Wish I was living on a seam of it. :>)
