“Once again, another self proclaiming patriot that cant wait until all future wars are fought on our soil.”
Your comments about that are a non sequitur. Reducing our military to that needed to protect our country does not mean that any war must be fought on our soil. Where did you get that from? What is the converse, that we have our military all over the world? That we have global dominance and bully every other nation to allow in our military?
If you are that paranoid about an attack from an army you cannot name then you should just go live in a cave and hide.
God forbid the US should maintain global dominance. Everybody knows we’re just a bunch of bullies. /s
That's the Mahan Doctrine, formulated by Admiral Alfred Thayer Mahan back in McKinley's and Roosevelt's administrations.
McKinley was the last of a long line of U.S. presidents who'd served in uniform in the Civil War, almost all of whom, McKinley included, had seen the devastation worked on the South by having a major war fought on its territory.
The Mahan Doctrine states simply that the United States will endeavor to fight its wars offshore or overseas, so that no major campaign ever again will be fought on U.S. soil.
The Marine Corps, if need be reinforced by the Army, is the mailed fist that rides the long arm of the Fleet, to make the safety of the People of the United States a law unto our enemies. Got it?
IMHO you appear short sided in your thinking. Protecting our country is one thing, our interests are another, as are our allies.
One example of protecting interests would be the US Navy which keeps shipping lanes open around the world.
China & Iran are two clear & present dangers. Speaking softly is fine as long as there's a big stick to back it up.
My idea of saving money would entail abolishing the TSA.
One of Reagan's big motos was, "Peace through strength."
This would mean that saw him as a Fascist.
Not buying into that crap sandwich here bud.
