We are on a trajectory that is bringing this country to the left on a daily basis. The Reagan "Revolution", the win in '94, the win in 2010: during none of these periods did the government shrink, at no point did freedom expand, at no point was liberalism actually weakened. We continued leftward unabated, despite the numbers that you so desperately crave. The packing of courts will occur; whether it occurs now or 5 years from now makes little difference in the overall war. But in order to delay (very marginally, I might add) this leftward expansion, you are willing to sacrifice any chance of doing what the left did, once they realized that their "numbers" meant little if they came at the expense of unified messaging, political agility, and courage.

Obviously, you don't see (or understand) the bigger picture. Keep doing what you are doing, but don't be surprised when the country continues to lurch leftward, regardless of short-term changes in political fortune, and don't be surprised that the conservative message continues to fade into the background noise.

Former state delegate Pat McGeehan was running in the Republican primary, but has dropped out. He says he will run for a state assembly seat he previously held. He is an excellent constitutionalist conservative: pro-life, pro-gun, limited government, etc.

I see I am dealing with someone incapable of rational debate. However, in terms of your original question: "Explain how you get anything you want with RATS controlling the Senate?" This is fairly simple. This is a long battle, and one which we have been losing, in part because of the willingness of conservatives to sacrifice political courage at the alter of the magical R/D ratio, and in part because the Democrats finally wised up and realized what was actually important.

1. Rid the party leadership of those hostile to conservatism. Their presence makes it impossible to have a single, cohesive message that resonates with voters.
2. Focus on the core principles of conservatism, and make sure that this message is hammered at all levels of politics, from the top leaders in the Senate, all the way to dogcatcher.
3. Develop a cohesive and aggressive defense of conservatism wherever it is attacked. We may make fun of the Democrats' use of talking points, but once they abandoned your type of strategy, they were able to be extremely effective in responding to any situation that arose.
4. Like the Democrats do, allow regional Republicans to deviate, but within a fairly strict scope, and never on crucial issues.
5. Use the party apparatus to fully vet candidates, on their commitment to the principles of the party, their ability to think on their feet, and their ability to articulate the party platform.
6. Use the party apparatus to coordinate with grass-roots groups, in order to saturate this cohesive messaging on the internet (once again, stealing from the post-poor strategy Democrat playbook).
7. Once the messaging, rapid response, coordination, and vetting are all in place, then expand into "enemy territory" -- Blue states (which voted for Reagan, due to the precision and consistency of his message), ethnic areas, and even universities.

This list is obviously not complete. Most of it is common sense, once it is acknowledged that we are being thoroughly outplayed in the arena of messaging and appealing to voters. But the critical thing is this, which is where your strategy errs: None of this is possible as long as Republicans like McCain, McConnell, Cornyn, Graham, Cochran, and Boehner have any kind of leadership position, at all. None of it. Their hostility to Reagan-style conservatism, combined with their leverage within the party, renders even the best laid plans completely moot.

It is ... I sent money to his campaign, and supported some other ways as well. If he really does run for the delegate seat, I will support again even though I'm not in his district.

Not sure if I will vote for Capito for Senate ... certainly not in the primary. Voting for the democrat is, of course, unthinkable.
