I don’t buy any of this crap. The people of this country have a deep capacity for organizing and responding to crises. Plus, our capabilities for fixing problems that arise...we can handle this.

Tipping point? This is media hypnosis.

I agree....the defeatism on our side is sickening.

It may seem like the liberal lunatics and freeloaders have us outnumbered, but we’re a lot stronger and better prepared for the long haul. It might or might not get ugly, but I like our chances.

Up until recently I would agree with your view. Unfortunately there has been an never ending loss of individual freedoms and increase in totalitarian oppression to make we very pessimistic our republic is going to survive. Perhaps there will still be a united states but one united under a republican government wherein the rule of law is supreme has almost become a historical note as we are now ruled by an uninformed self centered majority. Our national morality has been reduced to what feels good. That said, I am not giving up the fight but know I am getting weary seeing defeat upon defeat. The last positive battles for this land I can recall was the election of Reagan and the GOP win in 1994 and yet rather than being a trend, both were only upward blips on a downward trajectory of our culture.

The people of this country have a deep capacity for organizing and responding to crises. Plus, our capabilities for fixing problems that arise...we can handle this.

Responding to natural or man made catastrophes that suddenly devastate - YES, we had a capacity to do so.

But slow incremental enslavement to Government Socialism? I think Jefferson knew human nature better than most of are willing to admit.

"all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed."

Mankind's nature is one that desires safety and security - even if it's a despotism. Ancient Israel is a perfect example - there God Himself led them into liberty and they wailed and moaned and wished they were back in captivity in Egypt because risk was too much for them to handle.

In addition, we are NOT the same people our forbears were, nor are we the same people we were just two generations ago. There are a good number of us to be sure, but we are in a woeful minority of anyone willing to risk our lives, fortunes or sacred honor to go up against the Beast. Many have bought the lie that we should not judge, nor act in any uncivil manner towards those things anathema to our foundations - and that doing so is the worst kind of sin.

Tipping point? Economics will make the fact we reached that point some time ago very plain and certain in our very near future. Math does not lie, and simple math says we are way beyond the tipping point - economically.

Everything else will follow in terms of the divisions carefully placed and laid like a minefield in this society.

I agree with your sentiment about our organizing capacity, ability to respond to crises and capacity to fix things.

But I also agree that a tipping point has been reached. Not necessarily one that leads to the "destruction" of the nation, but one that means that the ultimate crisis requiring fixing is now inevitable. It's no longer a matter of "whether", but "when."

And at the point of "when" its going to be ugly. Very, very ugly.

Yup. Those skills prevented the recent weather disaster ramifications in GA.

Yes, but many eggs might get broken before the omelet is done.
