Some of the Ukranian nationalists are playing into the hands of Russian separatists in Ukraine. Yup. This move aggravated the crisis - without guarantees for minority rights, no one will trust the new government in Kiev.

And Ukraine cannot afford to alienate Russia even if it rejects a “big brother” role for its powerful neighbor. It must rein in anti-Russian extremists and ensure things don’t get out of hand.
