I bet in reality, Cornyn is probably just below 50%. But he and Rove and McConnell are definitely sweating now.

Thanks, my friend! I’m good.

I’ll be better when TED CRUZ becomes Senior Senator from Texas.

:-)

I've heard a few radio ads for Chris Mapp running on KTRH in Houston. Mapp apparently has some funding and is a serious candidate. He certainly is making more of an effort to campaign than Steve Stockman.

I will be delighted if either Stovall or Mapp comes in second instead of Stockman and Cornyn is kept under 50%. Several TEA Party activists in Texas have recently disavowed Stockman and I'm feeling very good about my vote for Stovall. I'm quite sure all the anti-Cornyn voters could get behind Stovall or Mapp to oust Cornyn in a runoff election.

Sort of but you can’t go strictly by the alphabet. Thug is actually the n-word unless you apply it to a union member then it’s the u-word. But if you apply it to Trayvon it might be a t-word. If it happens to be a black union member named Trayvon then of course it’s the nut-word. See? It’s all perfectly logical.

The wetbacks come over to the rancher’s private property, trash it, kill his cattle and know the federal gov’t will be on their side if he tries to defend his family or property.

Shoot. Shovel. Shut up.

FWIW ping...received this in an email, this afternoon...FreedomWorks has come as close as I've seen any major TEA group get to a Senate endorsement, in TX....

*******

The Texas Republican primary is this Tuesday, March 4, 2014. FreedomWorks for America has not endorsed in the race between John Cornyn and Steve Stockman. But thousands of our members have demanded information on this important race.....

.....Below is a record of some of the votes taken by John Cornyn and Steve Stockman. If you would like to learn more please go to Congress.FreedomWorks.org.

“Rhetoric such as that used by Mapp will lose him far more votes in the Valley than it will gain him. Guaranteed.”

So you are of the belief that Hispanics will vote Republican? All you have to do is look at a congressional district map of Texas to know that virtually all the seats along the border as well as those in the major cities are all RAT. Mapp needs to get to the white Republicans (along with those Hispanics who are conservative, if there are any) for the primary. As for the general election, the RATS will vote RAT as well.

I used to think it wasn’t cool either...but as the term has changed to illegal alien>illegal immigrant>undocumented immigrant> and now the open borders supporters want us to just call them immigrants to muddy the water between illegals and legal immigrants so they can call those of us that want the laws enforced racist.

As long as the open borders supporters call me racist for not wanting smugglers and criminals traipsing by our house while waltzing in illegally I think I will reserve the right to call them anything I choose to.

Changing terms for things in order to “own” the issue is something liberals do, and we just go along with it like sheep.

I am happy to call them simply illegals- which I do but I totally understand people wanting to call them what they were known by in years past. Frustration, along with being fed up to our eyeballs with PC crap will do that to the best of us at times.

I don’t live in South Texas so can’t speak for those folks but where I live the only people I know personally that call them wets or wetbacks are Hispanic U.S. citizens that have either been here for generations or went through all the hoops to come here legally.

So you are of the belief that Hispanics will vote Republican?

Some will, believe it or not. Certainly not a majority, but some Hispanics do vote Republican. The Hispanic vote in Texas is not a Democratic monolith, contrary to popular belief. That is, until, of course, you have a candidate that indiscriminately slings terms like "wetback" around. Then the Hispanics who might otherwise have supported Republican candidates look to start punishing them. Which is why I accurately point out that in the RGV, using that type of language is going to cost more votes than it garners. Because like it or not, Hispanics are an absolute majority there. There are far more of them then there are Anglo ranchers who will respond to the whole "shoot a wetback" line.

From what a friend tells me that lives in Texas you can shoot people to defend property, not just your life or life of someone else...my friend said if you shoot a trespasser/burglar you are usually good to go but I know anyone that shoots illegals any where is going to not just get the book thrown at them it will be the whole library. So I guess if the rancher guesses wrong he will be in better shape legally than if he actually shoots an illegal.

I have to say I have lived on the border over 40 years and in that time I have never once been wrong about anyone I thought was an illegal passing through/trespassing. I cannot explain how I know, it is just something you pick up on if you deal with it every day.

misguided Islamists

That is a real concern. I am not comfortable with the cartel connected armed smuggler or human trafficker of teen girls either which is mostly what passes through here.

Most who have a decent job (your example of drywall worker) here or even family that are doing halfway decent are not the ones hiking across the desert now though. Most of them drive across the border through legal crossings and claim to be coming to visit relatives or shop, then just stay.

Years ago it was mostly workers passing through the desert but now it is mostly hard core criminals of one variety or another. At least that is what we are seeing here. I can't even remember the last time I came across an illegal out here that looked like a worker or even asked about work.
