I read a story last week about Russia negotiating with 8 countries around the globe for warm water ports for their navy. That tells me Putin has no intention stopping in the Crimea. It is entirely concievable that we will not get a choice. America is the last big stick of the free world, Europe can't stop Putin and they know it, even though we have clowns in DC trying to take a military response off the table. I have long said when Bush left, he took the last of the serious or even mature minds with him, James Baker, Dick Cheny, Condi Rice,John Negroponte, John Danforth and others. Now we have nothing but clowns, childish Narcissist, that are way in over their heads.
Keep in mind that we had an industrial base in 1940. We don’t have that anymore—let alone high school grads who know what a lathe is...let alone how to use one.
Also the downside of a high tech army is that the production takes forever.
Those are the concerns I have.
The logistics are not as tough. We could set up forward logistics in Poland and other bordering countries. That would be the EASY part. I am sure there are still stockpiles in Germany and Turkey.
If he continues westward then it’s a problem. But I’ve seen a couple of retired Army guys on TV stating that their conscript army is really not that great. Versus our army that has ten years of live action combat, it would not be much of a contest.
I just cannot put myself in Putin’s head and figure why he would want to tangle with us.
