Probably there just in case....but they will not allow Russians to get their former lands in Western Ukraine without a fight.

Most likely. Would the Poles do that without consulting NATO command first, I wonder? I mean, sure, it's their national border. But I'd think - and I could be mistaken in this - that they'd at least leave a voicemail saying, "Hey, we're moving some armor to our frontier with Ukraine."
