As a conscientious buyer, I would just tell my agent not to show me any properties that display the sign. Why waste someone’s time if I wouldn’t be interested. Of course I would never buy in Illinois either. I won’t even enter the state unless I must cross it to travel somewhere else, and it’s just across the river.
“A criminal will bring in the gun, hold up the agent and take the valuables.”
In an article about more women getting CHPs, there was an interview with a female real estate agent who gave exactly that as the reason she got the permit.
I am a retired Realtor, sold homes for thirty years. I can tell you there was one day I wish I would have had a gun because I almost got it from a lone male looker at an open house. I was just closing, the house was at the end of the street and he came in, went upstairs and tried to get me to come up by asking questions, he wouldn’t come down. Finally, he started down the stairs, I went out and stood in the middle of the yard. His car was parked far down the street. Being a Realtor is a dangerous job.
I was thinking more of a “50 state solution”, as the country was set up to begin with.
I have literally been walking towards a place, money in my pocket intending to purchase something, seen the sign on the door and done a 180. Haven't been back. A Coleman Camping Store if you can believe that! You'd think a place that caters to outdoors types would be more hunter/firearms friendly.
With a house... Well, a no firearms sign tells me the current owners are either fascists or severely ignorant of the ways of the world. Tells me there's a good chance they aren't responsible homeowners either, so the place probably hasn't been maintained. Also tells me if they're capable of deluding themselves and lying to themselves to that level they'd probably lie to me too. I'd have no qualms about taking a pass on even considering their house.
What, EXACTLY, is the problem that this law is trying to address?
So what you’re saying, if you like your neighbors, but are moving, put conservative stuff around your home, to ward off the malcontents.
Ohhh...wouldn't that be AWESOME!!!
(I happened to notice, this is my favorite model Lauren Elaine Edelson, from Dierks Bentley video's)
That was my first thought. This is actually profiling for a buyer who has your agenda.
So what youre saying, if you like your neighbors,...”
...my cul de sac couldn’t be a better place to live. All conservative, family oriented, nice people. People moved away 2 doors down and sold the house to another conservative family. The right bumper stickers in the cul de sac, kids playing ball etc chased away the libs. Most libs’ kids don’t play ball. They paint, sculpt, speak French and do yoga. Oh, and play XBOX.
‘It really would be best if we could live apart from each other, but the libs would never allow that.’
Who would pay for their fantasies, entitlements, and general corruption?
BS
Think of it this way, they could be carrying cigarettes.
That would be more horrifying than a a gun to some folks.
.
Relax. Recent history has shown that these ‘small steps’ backfire on those who attempt them, especially when it comes to gun rights.
Putting a no guns warning in a house for sale simply decreases traffic from would be buyers.
As silly as the WHITE people back in 1968 who posted a sign in their windows...”THIS HOUSE IS NOT ARMED!” and “SOUL BROTHER” in hopes that the rioters would pass them by.
It didn’t last long.
***I can tell you 1st hand that many people will not buy a home from their political opposite.**
This reminds me of the people who went out to buy a used car.
They turn on the radio, if it hits all Rock and Roll stations, they consider the car to be abused.
If it hits easy listening music, they feel the car is not abused and often will buy.
There were a few no gun signs on businesses when we got cc years back. I haven’t seen a sign on a private business in years. The only “business” that can afford a no gun policy is the government.
Well Duh! That’s like the tapeworm agreeing to hang out in a jar in the junk drawer...
Or worse. "Forensic Files" had an episode where a creep went around looking for lone female RE agents, making an appointment to see a house, and once inside, raping and killing them.
There are attractive female agents that I know who try and bring their husband/boyfriend/brother to a showing if they don’t know the guy.
They bring a partner to an open house. And it doesn’t matter how nice the neighborhood.
A “NO GUNS” sign will actually attract illegal guns/perps.
