America's kids have been suspended for pretending that pencils were guns, but an Ohio school may have topped that. A 10-year-old student at a Columbus elementary school was handed a three-day suspension for making a finger gun and pretending to shoot a classmate. The suspension letter more formally referred to his weapon as a "level 2 lookalike firearm," reports the Columbus Dispatch. Devonshire Alternative Elementary School's principal says students have been frequently told not to play pretend gun games, with a district rep saying kids were warned consequences would follow.
Those consequences hit hard last week for fifth-grader Nathan Entingh, who says he was "just playing around"; the rep said Nathan pretended to shoot another student "kind of execution style" in the head. And the "victim" didn't even see the mock execution, which was instead spotted by a teacher. Nathan's dad seems dumbfounded: "It would even make more sense maybe if he brought a plastic gun that looked like a real gun or something, but it was his finger." (Almost exactly a year ago, a Georgia teacher was suspended over a finger gun of his own.)
Piper reminds me of a dumb blonde in jokes of yore, so I tried to find something fitting for her. She IS “vacantly adorable.”
After Mary left, I went to the Dollar Tree and got some “Awesome” cleaner so I can shampoo the rug next week. I also picked up some wrapping stuff for the baby bonnet I need to finish today, and came directly home. I did not pass “GO” and did not collect $200, or whatever the payment is, these days.
I didn’t sleep well last night, as my arms kept going numb again, but I will see the doctor in the morning. I hope she will give me what I want without a lot of fuss. :o]
In the meantime, my BP was pretty high this AM. Not even going to tell you what it was, lest you panic. I’ll wait til it comes down a tad.
Not sure I like the circling chaos bird. I thought tomorrow was going to be a nice day to wrap up the week, but it’s not going to work like that.
Saturday will have to be my Friday. Doctor’s appointment in the morning, lunch with my niece and her hubby around noon, and company around 1700.
And Saturday, I’m going to the track again. YAY!
I’m not going to panic now, but I reserve the right to do so at some future time.
Okie-dokie. It’s coming down. Does that help?
LOL! That was so clever!
LOL!
I fell asleep instead of panicking. Jake needed to know I still love him.
Next we’ll go to James and Pat’s swimming lesson.
How was the swimming lesson.
I’ve made a cake, worked on the bonnet (after catching three mistakes, I’m “about” half-way done) and spent some time laughing. Ha-ha!
I’m planning on getting a good sleep tonight, so hopefully, my BP will be closer to normal. I just hope the doc doesn’t berate me for the numbers. She needs to give me the meds I want and let me come back in two weeks. ;o]
Swimming lesson went fine. It’s an hour of diligent exertion for the rather large James and weedy Pat. Vlad went swimming, too, and Frank and Kathleen to the nursery, and I spent most of an hour on the treadmill.
Two of Tom’s large, loud friends have been here playing a computer game, but now they’re all leaving for the Venture meeting.
Yes, prayers work. Even when you don’t know you are doing it. :-)
There is grass in my raised beds. Does anyone happen to know how long round-up lasts in soil?
No, but if you find out, I’d like to know. What’s supposed to be my herb garden is full of grass, too.
Round-up is supposed to dissipate within three to six months, but I guess it would depend on rainfall.
3-6 months? I was thinking days. Hmm. I’m going to have to go look it up. brb.

K. If it were only a matter of days, the weeds would begin to grow back before the week was out.
Round-Up is supposed to keep your yard free of weeds much longer than that.
7-10 days. Woo-Hoo!
