Let me ask why should it be 60% from a state as deeply conservative as Texas? That’s ridiculous. John Cornyn in Pennsylvania or Michigan is OK, but not from Texas. A state like Texas should have two Ted Cruz’s so it goes to show how deeply the GOPe has its tentatcles.

If the GOPe can have a Senator from TEXAS only agree with my conservatism only 60% of time then yes MAYBE I am willing to take the liberal as short term medicine to cure the hill we’re sliding down to ensure a true conservative in the long term.

I think that is one of our problems as conservatives we just look to the next election as opposed to the long game. This also dovetails into what you said about pro-life. According to the voting for the GOP even if moderate theory we had a pro-life majority in charge of the government for six years (2000-2006). I can’t think of one major advance that was made on the pro-life front at the federal level during that time even though ostensibly most if not all of those 55 GOP Senators during that time claimed to be pro-life (granting one or two exceptions).

No the focus was on expanding Medicare Part D or the first attempt at amnesty by Bush, etc. More has been done to advance the pro-life movement over the last 5 years at the state-grass roots level during unarguably the most pro-choice federal government we’ve ever had. So voting by principles is ALMOST always the way to build a better long term conservative coalition.

I’d love 2 Ted Cruz from Texas...If I lived there, I would not have voted for Cornyn in the primary if he were against a Ted Cruz...or someone like him. That stated, he has won the primary, and I’d rather have Cornyn than a Dem...

Mark Warner was supposed to be a conservative democrat in Virginia...You could argue he was the 60th vote for Obamacare.

Dems are worse than the GOP, almost every time...doesn’t matter who the Republica Lite member is...Even Juan McCain is better than every single Democrat in the Congress...if we have a chance to rid ourselves of McCain in a primary, then I am all for it...but in the General, go with the most conservative...
