Rhodes’ legacy specified four standards by which applicants were to be judged:
Literary and scholastic attainments;
Energy to use one’s talents to the fullest, as exemplified by fondness for and success in sports;
Truth, courage, devotion to duty, sympathy for and protection of the weak, kindliness, unselfishness and fellowship;
Moral force of character and instincts to lead, and to take an interest in one’s fellow beings.
I’d say Clinton fails on all 4 premises....
After reading that list it did seem sort of odd that a person who was just about the opposite of what they say they want should be given the scholarship.
Not only did he not meet the requirements he was in the extreme in not meeting them.
