BEIJING (AP) — Vietnamese media reported that authorities have detected signals from a missing Malaysia Airlines flight off the southwestern coast of Vietnam on Saturday, hours after the flight went missing during a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
Website VN Express said a Vietnamese search and rescue official reported that the signals were detected from about 120 nautical miles (140 miles; 225 kilometers) southwest of Vietnam’s southernmost Ca Mau province.

The plane’s first officer is Fariq Ab.Hamid, a 27-year-old who joined the airline in 2007. Both are Malaysians.

Wow....From 2012...If it's indeed the same aircraft, that could be significant.
The crash -- not so much.
From what I just read it was estimated the speed was 770 mph at impact. A full power nose dive...with those in the area hearing the aircraft break the sound barrier.
I've had people that were living in that part of SLO County tell me they heard the sonic boom, with one guy telling me he heard the aircraft go into a dive, or heard it going by before the 'boom' -- but some miles South of the wreck, from the valley to that direction.
Possibly --- he had never heard a sonic boom at that low an elevation, I dunno. But the next time I get a chance to speak with that person, I'll see if I can jog his memory. Personally, myself, my first time in that area (other than just passing through when just a child, riding along in the family station wagon, some time in the 1960's) wasn't until about seven months or so after the crash.

My guess is a bomb on board, or loss of elevator control for some mysterious reason.

Yeah, if I recall, it was throttle up going into a nose dive...The shooter knew this was wreak havoc with the airline, but never gave a second thought about all the innocents on board.

I just find it a little odd that no one saw the plane go down,unless it went down in the middle of nowhere.and no one hearing anything as well.

I have been thinking the exact same thing since the beginning. You would think there would be some ships at sea or other aircraft that might have seen something.
