Building a pipeline to carry oil from Canada to Texas will cause the temperature of the earth to increase. Building a pipeline to carry oil from Canada to the Pacific Ocean, to ship oil to China, will not.

Nearly all homes in the USA have a natural gas pipe buried in the street outside there house.
