MISSING MH370: Pilot: I established contact with plane
New Straits Times ^ | 3/9/2014 | Unattributed

SEPANG: A BOEING 777 pilot, who was flying 30 minutes ahead of the missing Malaysia Airlines aircraft, said he established contact with MH370 minutes after he was asked to do so by Vietnamese air traffic control.

The captain, who asked to not be named, said his plane, which was bound for Narita, Japan, was far into Vietnamese airspace when he was asked to relay, using his plane's emergency frequency, to MH370 for the latter to establish its position, as the authorities could not contact the aircraft.

"We managed to establish contact with MH370 just after 1.30am and asked them if they have transferred into Vietnamese airspace.

"The voice on the other side could have been either Captain Zaharie (Ahmad Shah, 53,) or Fariq (Abdul Hamid, 27), but I was sure it was the co-pilot.

"There were a lot of interference... static... but I heard mumbling from the other end.

"That was the last time we heard from them, as we lost the connection," he told the New Sunday Times.

From An Evening in Byzantium:
Meanwhile the terrorists have secretly taken control of three airliners and have landed them on remote and desolate airfields that have been prepared in advance to off load and imprison the airliners’ passengers and then quickly retrofit the planes to each transport and drop a nuclear bomb on three cities in the United States. These cities are Washington, DC, New York City, and Miami, FL. Bombs have been planted on three flying commercial airliners and set to detonate in flight so the terrorist controlled jets can impersonate the legitimate commercial flights.

If that map is anywhere near accurate, the plane would have just recently reached cruising altitude when contact was lost.

Here is the problem. "Just recently" up to now is in the mind of the speaker.
Looking at the data from previous identical flights determines that "cruising altitude" was established anywhere between 18 and 22 minutes into the flight.

That is significantly inconsistent with the often reported "fact" that the flight was "about 2 hours" into its journey when contact was lost.

The flight was declared missing 2 hours after takeoff.

Radar contact was lost about 40 minutes after takeoff according to flight data available on the net.

If the aircraft was two hours into its flight that would put it well out over the South China Sea. According to this article it was last heard over the Gulf od Thailand.

Weird.

Good question. Usually you can’t keep him away from a camera over a crosswise fart. How about this?

Which map might that be?
I have seen at least two, possibly three maps of the intended flight path, up to 400 miles(!) apart, east to west, when reaching the Gulf of Tonkin.

that’s what I was thinking.
If it was a terrorist attack someone would have claimed credit or screamed ALLAH AKBAR in the radio,

You would cut all communications, dive to below radar detection and dump some fuel to make a couple of oil slicks and continue at low altitudes to avoid radar to your destination at some remote and friendly landing strip.
