Based on the numbers for Sink in the 2010 election, posted above by Norseman in #158, she went from a 6 point win to a 2 point loss. That is a good drop, though it would have been great if the gap was 10 points or more. The libertarian candidate drew away a nice chunk of votes, but I think there are a lot of liberals in that group.

Mr. Jolly was an aide to the former congressman, Bill Young.
Jolly was also a lobbyist.

He won a three way race in the primary against two candidates. One, a woman with Chamber of Commerce ties, the other a retired military officer backed by Colonel Allen West.

The West backed candidate was the more conservative, Tea Party candidate.

Jolly says he’s against Obamacare, John Boehner says so, too. We all know that isn’t true because he opposed Ted Cruz. Jolly campaigned under the GOPe’s “repeal and replace” banner, not the “get rid of it completely” banner.

Jolly opposes “amnesty” but what will he support in the end is my question. “Guest Worker” status????? We shall see....

Jolly called himself a “Bill Young conservative” in his ads.

The “Washington Post” characterized Jolly’s former boss and the former congressman for the district as “Young, a moderate known for steering federal dollars to the district”.....

>> Once again a Libertarian comes close to screwing all of us.

Prolly a 7 to 3 split that would have favored the R vote.

Congrats to the victor!

I hope this is a *trend* across the fruited plain.

Here in blue CT we had this small surprise. Let's get behind these people on the local level. FULL STEAM AHEAD!

“Hooray!”

Ya know, it’s not fair when a Republican wins an election.

There are so many disenfranchised citizens out there who were kept from the polls by right wing intimidation.

The election should be given to the Progressive because Progressives are loving, decent, caring people.

See? Ya know?

/Sarcasm/

IMHO

Doubtful there will be any recounts that unseat the newly elected congressman from Florida. It seems he is just another RINO -
"Jolly thanked Sink and Overby and said it was "OK" that tens of thousands of others voted for his opponents.

"While this campaign at times seemed to be partisan, your next congressman is not partisan," he said.
"
I could be wrong but that statement does not bode well for Conservatives. A liberal by any other name is still a liberal.

Bell weather, noun referring to weather so murky that everyone must wear a bell to announce his presence so as not to collide with other persons. Also known as foghorn weather.

"Once again a Libertarian comes close to screwing all of us."

Actually in this case I think the Libertarian would've been a better choice than either of the two liberals that garnered the bulk of votes.
JMHO

In 1951 NY Giant, Bobby Thompson hit a 150 foot home run in the Polo Grounds ballpark to win the National League Pennant, over the Brooklyn Dodgers. A puny, meager flyball in most ball parks....but it became famously known...”As the home run heard round the world!!!”.

David Jolly won by a little less then 4,000 votes. End result: A win is a win is a win!!! Congrats Me. Jolly!!!

We got Clinton because of Perot. And although Perot was not a libertarian, it is the same phenomena. Until the liberals start splitting their vote, conservatives will be cursed with the possibility.

If we don’t vote Republican, on principle or NOT, conservatives WILL have another liberal (worse than the last) Democrat president in 2016.

FoxNews reports this morning that ‘even some Republican consultants were worried that Jolly could not pull out a win, because he was behind in the polls.’

Additionally, the Republican consultants were worried that Obamacare might not be the issue mid-term candidates should run against.

[The Republicans NEED to get a new set of consultants. These guys they have been paying in recent years aren’t worth crap.]

Thompson's home run went over the left field wall at the 315-ft marker.
