Could the Ethiopians have started pirating airplanes since the ships are defended now?

If the Bad Actor was a gummint needing a delivery system then they’d simply BUY it —would arouse less suspicion.
So this MUST be some kind of insurgent group without access to a legit tax base.
So they stole it.

I suspect that more than pings were sent, but they don't want to release the details. In any case, the plane was flying undetected by radar and that means it must have been flying under the radar. If the cabin pressure suddenly dropped and the pilots became unconscious, then would the plane automatically fly under the radar for 4 hours? It makes me think that the low altitude flying must have been intentional.

So it had four hours of fuel left and transmitted signals to the satellite for four hours - suggesting it flew until it ran out of fuel.
I am the first to admit I know nothing about nothin’. But in four hours would it not have entered into another nation’s airspace ‘unexpectedly’? What happened if that nation tried to contact it?
I have a feeling this plane landed somewhere.

Unless the passengers aboard were dead, they must have been aware that something was terribly amiss during those hours.

So the story changes again. Now it did fly for hours. No, it didn't. Yes, it did.

This whole affair is the most frustrating thing I’ve ever seen. Six days into it and even the most basic details are not nailed down for sure, such as which side of the Malay Peninsula to look for the wreckage. Has there ever been anything like it in aviation history?

We can track truck fleets via GPS all over USA, Canada and Mexico, but no one can track a single jet by installing an isolated-battery powered 200 mile range UHF xmitter hidden in the high tailfin where no one can remove it-
only cost 100 bucks from China.

The aircraft is being “repurposed” as we speak. I pray for the innocent passengers if they are not already dead one way or another.
