Romulus, you have shortsighted tunnel vision here. The article is about women's rights in the ME. You pointed out that abortion is legal in Israel as an argument to temper the praise on FR for Israel. First, does that really make sense in the context of the obvious? Before you trip on your shadow here, remember, abortion is also legal and prevalent in the USA. Again, that has very little to do with women's rights in the ME.
I'm no fan of abortion. I'm Catholic and abhor the very idea of it. But in the Middle East, they stone 12 year old girls because they were raped by their uncle. Women are mutilated for being seen alone in public. You've picked out one objectionable social issue in Israel (that we also debate here in the USA) to demonize the sentiments on FR.
I must ask, what do you think of America regarding women's rights? Are we no better than Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Turkey, etc. simply because our SCOTUS ruled that abortion was not illegal here?
