Maybe it was intercepted in mid air by another ROP controlled aircraft, they get very close and swap transponder signals, 777 then proceeds on the flight path of the other jet while the other goes silent and down to the deck.

I just don’t see why hijackers would have taken the plane just to crash it in the Indian Ocean..they had every opportunity to crash it into the China Sea..what is so special about the Indian Ocean that they had to crash it there, for what, so that it would never be found and to torture these families even more. I dont buy it

Its on planet Zoreon. The Zoreons heard that there were a bunch of Zoreons on board, so they grabbed it and took it to their planet. They have now found out that it had Goreons on it, and are now trying to decide what in the hell to do with it.

Deal with it Zoreons!

I don’t buy the notion that it was commandeered and landed at a hidden airfield somewhere. That would be far too risky in terms of detection and make their mission very unlikely to succeed. The hijackers would know that the moment authorities realize the plane had been hijacked there would be fighter jets scrambled after them from every nearby air force and satellites searching for them.

Because the clock would be ticking until they were spotted by a nearby country, hijackers taking control of the plane would head directly for their target and try to crash it on their target as soon as possible, in order to minimize the time for air forces to intercept them.

I would guess that the aircraft was hijacked by muzzie terrorists and they began to proceed directly to their intended target in order to crash the plane into it.

Why were they headed in the direction of India? Muzzie terrorists would not crash it into a muslim city like Kuala Lumpur. Their greatest enemies are the US and India.

The flight path suggests they were headed to India. They would love to strike New Delhi or some other Indian city. Their plan may have been to follow the typical flight corridor used by airliners and then veer off and crash it into New Delhi. Other targets might be Bangalore or Hyderabad.

However, it appears that the hijackers did not knew about the aircraft periodically automatically pinging satellites. If they did know about it, then obviously they would have disabled it hours earlier when they shut off the transponder.

Therefore, we can conclude that the plane likely never made it beyond the flying radius from the last ping heard to when the next ping would have been heard. If the pings come every hour, then the plane crashed or landed within an hour of the last ping. This would eliminate possibilities such as flying on to Iran or Pakistan.

Why did they not make it to their target? Perhaps as they were approaching radar distance from India, the terrorists lowered the altitude to just over the water but ended up crashing into the sea, or the passengers realized what was happening and stormed the cockpit.

Eventually, pieces of this plane will begin to wash up on the shores of Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand.

It could have been headed either for Burj Khalifa or Bombay

"One flight path suggests the plane crashed into the Bay of Bengal off the coast of India, and the other has it traveling southeast and crashing in the Indian Ocean, according to the analysis."

Perhaps the hijackers had no better sense of directions than a CNN reporter.

One thing we can all agree on is that Malaysia looks increasingly like a 3rd world banana-republic.

Scenario 1: Suicide

Things were bad at home with one of the two pilots --he was losing his spouse and his kids. Maybe he also has some professional problems with the airline --impending job loss?

He kills the other pilot, then depressurizes the plane to knock out all the passengers. He briefly hears a banging on the cockpit door, but it subsides after 1 minute, then stops totally: the widely-imagined battle royal for survival by the passengers is a non-event. He shuts down both transponders and all comms.

He flies on, on oxygen, contemplating his life, the passengers meanwhile dying from oxygen deprivation. He turns the plane dramatically, beginning a suicidal dive, plunging 40,000 feet in just one minute, only to chicken out.

He flies on for hours, silently trying to summon up the courage to end it all. His indecision is overtaken by his fuel situation, and on vapors he finally slams into the ocean, knocking himself out and dying.

Scenario 2: Hijack

The two Lothario pilots invite the 2 most attractive women on the plane into the cockpit, the better to impress them with their studly technical skill. This habit of theirs had been previously noted by other more radical passengers and quietly passed up the command chain, who dispatched comely young women to "coincidentally" fly in their plane.

During their cockpit party the pilots are overcome by a sedative secreted into their drinks. The women unlock the cockpit door, later accessed by a completely calm and properly trained hijack pilot clicking a pen and holding a clip-board --as with the previous scenario there is no life-or-death fight with the passengers.

He throws aside his silly name-tage and clip-board and immediately depressurizes the plane --the passengers are knocked out and later die. The transponders are turned off, they dive for the deck and turn to their destination four hours away --a 4,000 foot airstrip controlled by their fellow believers.

Immediately upon touching down the spoilers are activated, they apply maximum brake pressure and hit the thrust reversers on the pair of massive engines --the plane lurches, strains and jostles, but rolls to a halt at the very edge of their makeshift runway.

Dented technicals --pickups packed with angry-looking armed men-- stream onto the strip, guiding the behemoth aircraft packed with suffocated passengers to a rocky crag, with burly, bearded men camouflaging the aircraft even as the engines spool down.

Non-minaturized nukes are heavy, and a re-painted civvy a/c like the 777 will make a perfect delivery platform at 3,000 feet on a clear day at 10:00 am over a major city, the better to teach the non-believers with Allah's blinding white flash.
