New:Newer;Newest:Missing plane: Piracy Theory Gains More Credence
AP ^ | March 14, 2014 | EILEEN NG and JOAN LOWY

Piracy and pilot suicide are among the scenarios under study as investigators grow increasingly certain the missing Malaysia Airlines jet changed course and headed west after its last radio contact with air traffic controllers.

The latest evidence suggests the plane didn't experience a catastrophic incident over the South China Sea as was initially suspected. Some experts theorize that one of the pilots, or someone else with flying experience, hijacked the plane or committed suicide by plunging the jet into the sea.

So this new theory is an amalgamation of everything. It was hijacked, committed suicide, by crashing into the sea. What I don't get is how hijacking and suicide is a likely combination.

Still waiting for someone reporting a tractor beam pulling the plane into a UFO's hanger deck.

Ridiculous. It was not a suicide flight. They’d have crashed it where they were. no reason to try and avoid radar and fly for hours.

At first I thought maybe it was like the EgyptAir flight, a suicidal pilot. I dont believe that anymore..if either of these two pilots wanted to off themselves they would have done it in the China Sea, no need to turn off the transponder, just scream out Allah Akbar and be done with it, no need to be all secretive

My inner cynic is beginning to think perhaps there’s a coverup going on. Who would cover up what? How about Rolls-Royce covering engine failure? Or Boeing?

Why? Can passengers’ families sue? Can RR and Boeing lose sales?

Pilot and 1st Officer are/were muslims. Risk factor for an internal job goes way way up.

These people know that America always jumps in to help in crises. Maybe they’re using this plane search as bait to lure our ships, etc., in a vulnerable position and then annihilate them.

Or Langoliers.
Or alien abduction.

If it crashed into the sea why didn’t the ELTs automatically activate?

I believe what Dr. Limbaugh and Dr. Savage said: It was probably shot down by some jet from a paranoid country, then covered it up when they realized what they did.

"Ridiculous. It was not a suicide flight. They’d have crashed it where they were. no reason to try and avoid radar and fly for hours."

WRONG! The terrorists wanted to create an aftermath such as what we are talking about now. Also, they would choose to ditch the aircraft in water much deeper than was available around Malaysia, Viet Nam, etc, and that would be out over the Indian Ocean.

I’m waiting for the theory mongers to say “I am an idiot!” when the mystery is resolved and it doesn’t match their ridiculous theories.

So the terrorists (who could have crashed the plane into MASSIVE landmarks in Malaysia including one of the tallest structures in the world) decided to just dump it into the Indian ocean to troll search and rescue.

That too.. Being shot down isn’t ruled out either. Malaysia directed search teams to the wrong areas, perhaps on purpose? Also, China provided satellite photos of wreckage as a diversion away from them having been involved?

The next time we'll see this plane, if we ever do, will be just prior to use of a chemical, bio or nuclear payload over a coastal city on the West coast.

Given the nature of what appears to be a spectacular cover up, this is as likely a scenario as any.

Muslim terrorists choosing their target in a Muslim country (Malaysia) is a ridiculous scenario.

Not really. Muslims bomb within their own countries all the time.

If it was shot down, I’d say the U.S. military is far from the least likely culprit.
