Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay faces a preliminary misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated and four felony counts of possession of a controlled substance after being arrested Sunday night.

According to Hamilton County (Ind.) police, Irsay was arrested in the Indianapolis suburb of Carmel at about 3 a.m. ET. Irsay was observed stopping in the middle of the road and failed to signal when pulling over.

"During the course of the investigation, Irsay subsequently failed several roadside field sobriety tests," police said in a statement.

Several Schedule IV bottles of prescription medication were found in Irsay's car. "Multiple prescription drugs were discovered in pill bottles," police said. "These Schedule IV prescription drugs were not associated with any prescription bottles found in the vehicle." Irsay was detained, with bail set at $22,500.

Sounds like an average night for Dallas Cowboys.

Local media said Toyota Highlander (a SUV) which seems surprisingly downscale for a mega wealthy guy like him.
I would have expected Escalade, Land Rover, Merc, etc.

Irsay was one of the owners who publicly opposed Rush’s inclusion in the group who were going to purchase the St Louis Rams.

He said Limbaugh would not be the kind of person the NFL wants to associate with given his views. Looks like Irsay is the kind of person the NFL does not want to associate with.

Gee, do you think he can afford a good lawyer? < \sarcasm>

Keep in mind: Roger Goodell, the commissioner of the NFL, said that RUSH LIMBAUGH was not a good enough person to be an owner in the league.

Occassionally in my town, motorcycle cops go up on the sidewalk and hide behind bushes to radar gun people. They do this not where speeding is a problem, and certainly not where accidents have been a problem. Ins tewd they do this in a corridor between the shopping area and high end housing.

Why?

Because rich people pay their fines. Police work is now 2/3 revenue generation....and concentrating in wealthy areas is ubiquitous.

Oh yeah...rich people typically aren’t violent with the police....another bonus.

I’m sure you’re right.
Irsay (just like his Dad) is pretty widely known in the community as a doper.
My guess is he’s had a number of free passes and the cops finally decided to take him off the streets.

When I was younger, stopping in the middle of the street at 3 AM was code for a drunk taking a leak in the street.

“Probably the reason they pulled him over in the first place...the police sometimes have ‘saturation patrols’ where they pull people over for any infraction...just to see what they might find.”

It’s Carmel (by-the-Interstate, not the one by-the-sea).

If you ever lived in the area, you’d understand that no further explanation is needed.

This is Indiana, after all...
Coastal Big/Flashy is frowned upon here. Even Irsay’s estate, worth a couple of Mil, is “Small and Quaint”, by NFL Owner standards.

Drive by the Colt’s Complex during practice season, and you’ll see a bunch of pickups, and Suburbans, not Bugatti’s Maserati’s, and Ferrari’s.

I refuse to drive any more after imbibing. I'm not stupid enough to fund the Police State.

Of course, that means that I don't go to restaurants that rely on alcohol sales to make a profit. I'm sure the government will reimburse them for their losses...

Look at the sheep delighting over another arrest, another 10K+ for the local courts. When it’s their turn others will thrill. “To Protect and to Serve...” Suckers.

Like a Shop-Vac on your wallet...
