Re your post 75, maybe you have some sort of wood-feeding device for your wood furnace. My stove is a plain Jotul stove that requires feeding of firewood sections many times a day and thus is not that conducive to feeding 24 hours a day.

Besides, I’m an OldPossum and not keen on doing such. Therefore, between Mrs. OldPossum and me, we run the stove only from 8:00 or 9:00 in the morning until 10:00 at night.

I say that with some trepidation that you might come back and say you’re 85 years old and have no problem with the labor involved. If so, I salute you!

No not 85 but I am 51 and can feel the difference. Thankfuly I have 2 sons who help. I have a furnace, hooked to duckwork, that will take 7 decent pieces and depending on the temp will last for 8 hours or so and keep my 1050 square foot home at 68 or 70. Fill er in the morning fill er when I get home from work and top it off before bedtime. Been burning since October here in central Illinois.

I am just rereading this thread. A good Jotul should stay burning for at least eight hours with dry hardwood. Have you checked the gaskets?
