Doctor: No Such Thing as ADHD
The New American ^ | 18 March 2014 | Selwyn Duke

The child would daydream in class, his elementary-school teachers said. He often just didn’t pay attention the way they would have liked. This was before the age of prevalent ADHD diagnoses and Ritalin, so no remedy was at hand, either. If one had been, though, who knows what he might have been?

Perhaps not co-valedictorian of his school — which he was.

I was that child. And were I attending school today and especially if my behavior had been worse, it’s likely I’d have received that fashionable diagnosis. And why not? It seems everyone now could have ADHD.

This point is made by Dr. Richard Saul, who has been practicing behavioral neurology for 50 years and is the author of the new book ADHD Does Not Exist. In a March 14 Time piece he writes:

“Funny, there was no ADHD when I was a kid. Maybe it’s because there was no Ritalin”

And, I bet there was less than 4% in my class who failed to graduate. The further away one gets from the 3R’s, the more money is spent on stupid thories like Common Core.

I’ll do that. As it is we’re big flax oil and coconut oil fans. We eat more fat than Mooch would ever approve of. We’re not overweight either.

Good for you! I’m not that confident on this subject.

Have I got a deal for you!! LOL

No....just a person who has done a HUGE amount of research on mag ever since my husband got fibromyalgia about 7 yrs ago. He’s totally cured now and I’m the richer for it as well since I started taking it too.

There’s a fantastic book out called The Magnesium Miracle by Dr. Carolyn Dean but here’s the summary.

Take magnesium glycinate; I like Metagenics brand but you can buy it in bulk powder (mag/glycinate) on Amazon. You can also use magnesium oil which you spray on but you’re only getting about 18mg per spritz. Ideally you should take 600-800 mg/spread through the day and based on bowel tolerance. Most mag/glycinate supps have about 100mg per tablet.

I completely went off all anti depressants and anti anxiety. I also never had to go back to the chiropractor or massage therapist since all my body pain went away. Mag makes 350 other systems in your body sync or click into place so once you start taking a quality mag you’ll find all kinds of things start to happen. I shop on vitacost.com or amazon for this product.

I just didn’t want somebody “yelling” at me for ruining my kid, or something. People can be kind of nasty on here, sometimes.

Tell me, how do you expect people to challenge you on a site famous for challenging its members?

As a parent, I can say that I most certainly do NOT hate my children.

Definitely a sign of deficiency but do know that our soils and water are really depleted of mag and even if she ate a lot of those foods she still probably would not get enough. Mag is not water soluable but you do lose a lot when under stress, other things you consume (coffee, sodas, etc) or you sweat a lot. Get her on a good supplement and see what happens.

I think there are an awful lot of children from ‘broken homes’ and these emotional symptoms are the result of all of this dysfunction.

Manic/Bipolar Disorder is very real, not sure I buy the whole chemical imbalance thing, but is does exist.

My own parents sat me down and taught me gently how to pay attention, how to really understand, how to really listen, and how to read. They made me have an early bed time on school nights, but I could have my light on as late as I wanted provided I was reading a book. They rewarded good report cards.

Thank you, mom. Thank you, dad.

Part of it is the nature of over diagnosis, when well more than half the people that have been diagnosed to have a problem don’t it’s easy to say the problem doesn’t exist. Doubters need to remember that in some form or another this diagnosis goes back a long time and has associated biochemical signatures.

People really need to read up on the subject.

"Another thing to note when talking about the differences in the amphetamine-class stimulants is that one of the strange effects of current culture is that particular drugs are demonized in the news, entertainment media, government information, and school curricula. Methamphetamine is particularly demonized, amphetamine somewhat less so, even though amphetamine-related stimulant drugs -- including methylphenidate (Ritalin), amphetamine (Adderall, Dexedrine), & methamphetamine (Desoxyn) -- are commonly prescribed for children from as young as age 3. All three of these can lead to difficult-to-break habits and can become a problem for some people who try them. But the marketing teams of the pharmaceutical companies do what they can to soothe parents' concerns by separating the image of street-speed users from the clean, clinical, healthy use of their products."

People may be turning their kids into flesh eating zombies early on.

If you believe in ADHD and drug your children you do. You hate them because you are willing to drug them to stop them from being children.

Popcorn made with coconut oil is the best. Not the least bit greasy. In fact, salt won’t stick to it unless you also drizzle it with butter.

Try it once and you will never go back to microwave popcorn.

Years ago My sister called me up in tears, Her sons teacher wanted him on Ritalin. I asked if they had a clinical diagnosis, she said no.

I picked him up on Saturday morning and took him fishing to a spot that had no fish. I taught him how to bait his hook, and cast and retrieve. He sat quietly for about 2 hours focused on his bobber.

Took him home and told my sister that he was just bored and that they could test him for ADD/ ADHD if they gave him an IQ test first.

She called me a week later and said they now wanted to skip him a grade.

I told her that was the opposite wrong reaction.

I don’t believe in ADHD and I don’t drug my children. But you said parents hate their children. Period. That comment sounds like it came from a child hating pro abortionist.
