Breathtakingly naive about Putin you are IMO.

On the contrary. I have studied him and his fellows while I was on active duty. He is ultimately predictable.

And I suppose you are a Putin expert? So tell me how often you have been to Russia, how well you speak Russian, and more about the country that he pretty much rules that makes you feel like such an expert. I have had long conversations with Russians in their country about both Putin and Yeltsin and believe I have an insider view to add to my American citizenship and birth.

Rather than slinging insults, try explaining your position and sharing what makes you think you know more about something than someone else.

Not at all. You don’t think WWI had anything to do with the rise of Hitler?

Your lack of a sense of history makes your argument TOTALLY irrelevant.

“Why does the U.S. care which flag will be hoisted on a small piece of land thousands of miles away?”

...because the PRICK in the White House would love to do the same to YOUR State. Could he...will he? No...but the point is...we know that vote was as fraudulent and as corrupt as Putin himself.

Should we do something about it? Probably not...it’s too late anyway. What could’ve been done should’ve been done before hand making it more than risky for Putin to do what he’s doing right now. But shit-for-brains Obama is no Reagan.

End of story.

BTW...say goodbye to Ukraine, Belorussia and the other old USSR states...short lived was there freedom.

Almost true. If California had just had a huge revolution and put in leadership that was primarily neo-nazi, very broke, and extremely fascist.

But your point about why Crimea is now mostly Russian is true. That can be said about much of the world however.

On Sept 10th, 2001, I remember my brother, who was an air traffic controller in Anchorage at the time, said that the Russians were playing “war games” and they were locking onto civilian American targets. He said after that if we were not at war with Russia the next day, it would be a miracle.

I have no doubt of Russia’s ambitions.

The problem with your thinking is that Putin and Russia have had altercations with Baltic states in the past and not invaded them. They stopped before they reached Tbilisi as well.

What Putin is doing is a response on his part to protect a port he already had leased for the next 40 years or so.

So if you just handed over a large sum of cash to purchase a vacation home in another country, and that country suddenly had a revolution and was taken over by a very unstable and American-hating group, what is now the value of your vacation home?

The point is that Putin's response was a response to events in Ukraine. He didn't just wake up and decide to annex Crimea on a Sunday morning.

I have no doubt of Russia’s ambitions.

But that is exactly how they view us.
And much of the rest of the world does as well.

There were a lot of Americans who shared Mr. Paul’s opinion right up to Dec 7, 1941.

You can tell a lot about people they way they misuse certain historical analogies. For instance, the repeated references to the Sudetenland. Yawn.

How about trying this one for size: where are you with regard to Japan's attack on both Singapore & Pearl Harbor? Do you know what forced the Japanese to initiate this attack?

How about some background information. I can tell from your previous posts that you're one of those who believes in America's imminent "fossil fuel independence". AKA another sucker falling for a pump & dump scam. (You know none of the major oil companies got involved, and that they're already cutting back on capital expenditures and dipping into reserves to cover dividends in order to maintain share prices, right? Bueller?)

The truth of the matter is the USA passed peak oil back in '73 when Nixon took us off the gold standard, for good reason. With both Cantarell & Gwahar showing precipitous declines, it's clear we're facing the downward slope on a global basis.

The last region remaining today with impressive proven reserves, is, you guessed it, Russia. Just like the USA was the world's largest producer on Dec 7, 1941.

So, to get the analogy straight, our backing of the illegal insurrection that overthrew the legitimate government of Ukraine was tantamount to 12/7/41: engaged as a long-term play to eventually defeat Russia and gain possession of it resources.

Everything Putin, et al have been doing since have been defensive reactions to our offensive campaign. And just like WWII, this is only the start. We will continue to press the attack in the hope of defeating our last chance to gain hold of sufficient reserves to keep the Ponzi going for another generation or so.

But we might not be dealing with this if we had had stronger foreign policy to begin with.

The monument, “To the Struggle Against World Terrorism,” is a gift from President Vladimir Putin, the people of Russia and the artist, Zurab Tsereteli, to the people of the United States.

Us Embassy in Moscow after 9-11

What we need is another George Bush.

And more hugs in the world.
