The Russians led and supplied Israel’s enemies toward the Six Day War, just as they have more recently led and supplied Iran. I see nothing with balking. To the extent that policy was followed, it served us well. Common sense tells us that if there's war it is far better to enter it last after the other powers are bloodied and weakened. Americans need not feel guilty that we are blessed with the geographical separation that allows us a measure of safety the rest of the world has.
