If Huckabee jumps in, it’ll be strictly as a spoiler role to siphon votes away from conservatives.
+1. Same with Santorum.
Huckster and Santorum exist to trick good-meaning, but stupid, Christians.
Huckabee is very popular with the Pat Robertson wing of the party - now often thought of as the Huckabee wing. His support is very strong among voters for whom religion and social conservatism are the primary issues. Many of these voters aren't actually conservative on anything other than the traditional values positions. Many, perhaps most, of these voters have no real problem with big government - as long as it dealing with the problems they consider most important (banning porn, etc). There aren't many of these types on FR because they aren't necessarily politically active or loud, but there are lots of them out there. Once upon a time their solid values represented a silent majority, now not so much. The problem is many are not real conservatives, they just have different priorities for government and someone like Huckabee can get a lot of these people out to vote. It's why no matter who the ultimate nominee is, and it won't be Mike Huckabee, they will be asking Huckabee to support and help campaign for them. Trying to get these voters out for the GOP is a goal every election cycle, but it is very difficult since they really are very much only willing to come out and vote for someone who they feel has very traditional, Christian values and will make that a focus of an administration should they win.
