Michigan's ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional, a federal judge said Friday as he struck down a law that was widely embraced by voters a decade ago — the latest in a recent series of decisions overturning similar prohibitions across the country.
U.S. District Judge Bernard Friedman released his 31-page ruling exactly two weeks after a rare trial that mostly focused on the impact of same-sex parenting on children.
He noted that supporters of same-sex marriage believe the Michigan ban was at least partly the result of animosity toward gays and lesbians.

Federal judges need to be put back into their place. They are not lawmakers
Time to get government out of marriage. I saw this coming 10 years ago, despite the 59% of Michiganders including myself voting for the ban.
I only hope the eventual collapse and rebirth of America comes soon enough that we can jail every one of these judicial tyrants. I won’t say what I think these ‘men in black’ actually deserve.
Yet more evidence of the how our tyrant judges operate. Congress could rein them in , but won’t.
I don’t see how these judges think they have the authority to srike down constitutional amendments??

The judges are out of control. In the affirmative action case, the federal appeals court ruled that the losers couldn’t afford to keep fighting something the people voted for, so the losers win.
Federal judges in all of obamas 57 states can say its
OK...but GOD is stil ‘agin it.

That won’t happen until the states return to the senate.
It will take the states themselves to make that happen.

In theory, there's nothing controversial about a federal judge striking down an amendment to a state constitution on the grounds that it violates the federal constitution; the U.S. Constitution says that federal law is "the supreme Law of the Land... any Thing in the Constitution or laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding." (Article VI, cl. 2).
What is, of course, controversial (to say the least) is the idea that banning gay marriage violates the U.S. Constitution; but that's a separate question than the one you asked.
Where does this Federal “judge” get “unconstitutional”? Seems to me there was nothing about legalizing perversion in our Constitution.
Where does the 10th Amendment fit, in this, say that all that is not granted to the federal government is reserved to the states?? And what about the fact that the States created the Federal government?
I’d say judges have overreached their authority.
Per the 10th, the states SHOULD be supreme in all that is not EXPLICITLY granted to the Federal Gov. in the U.S. Constitution!!
My other question is WHEN are we going to see one of these state’s governors (backed by a conservative legislature) tell the FEDERAL GOV to go to Hell, when their judges overrule a state Amendment on Marriage?? When are we going to see a state gov. say “We won’t comply” and “You can’t make us”..

Marriage is integral to civilization. To try to separate government from family law is an anarchist position.
To some extent these laws can be decentralized, but generally, when members of society cannot agree to the basic concepts of family and heterosexual monogamous parents as the ideal for raising children, it is time to part company. It is impossible for these competing ideologies to coexist.
The homosexual marriage issue is a smoke screen. The real goal is to punish all dissent against homosexual acts including the grooming of children to participate. The fact that all 50 states grant homosexuals rights over children as either foster parents or adoptive parents means the battle is already lost. As homosexuals further pursue children who are now safely protected by their natural parents, war is inevitable. These demons will not be exorcised without much writhing and gnashing of teeth, and probably a great deal of bloodshed.
