In America, you aren’t required by law to belong to the Catholic denomination.
What a ridiculous way to sidestep the point I made. I AM Catholic. Therefore, I cannot, as you state, “Have my religious marriage and leave the government out of it.” Maybe there are those who are so poorly committed to their faith that they would set it aside in order to avoid a bit of governmental intrusion. My faith means more to me than that—I obtained a marriage license form the state of Michigan, not with a smile on my face, but because for whatever reason that’s what the Church required of me in order to receive the sacrament.
It wasn’t a sidestep, but I can’t account for every church denomination, every religion, every cult, etc.
If your church, your religious practice, REQUIRES you to go to the government, then that is something entirely different.
The Catholic church and government goes hand in hand, they used to make the marriage law for the people that they had the power over, but not in America.
“U.S. District Judge Bernard Friedman released his 31-page ruling exactly two weeks after a rare trial that mostly focused on the impact of same-sex parenting on children.”
It is impossible to be a “same-sex parent of children.” If a homosexual is naturally sexually attracted to a member of their same sex, then it is bioligically impossible for them to pro-create, so they should naturally not have a desire to pro-create. However, if their sexual attraction is a deviant behaviour, then they could certainly still feel a natural desire to pro-create.
I am told by the left to believe whole heartedly in evolution and yet to also believe that nature would not have evolved homosexuality out of existence. I am told that it is natural for someone to want to pro-create, even when their behaviour makes it impossible. Yet, I am also called a “science denier.”
This is nothing more than an attempt to destroy marriage. They have admitted it.
