Romney Takes on Tea Party in Idaho
Newsmax ^ | March 21, 2014 | Courtney Coren

Former presidential candidate Mitt Romney this week campaigned in Idaho for Gov. Butch Otter and Rep. Mike Simpson, who have primary battles against tea party challengers, to prevent the GOP from veering "wild right."
"I'm here today in Idaho . . . to make sure people understand that the people I'm standing with right here are the right team of conservative leaders to help the people of Idaho," Romney said, according to NPR.
-SNIP-
According to David Adler, director of the Andrus Center for Public Policy at Boise State University, Romney's purpose in the state is to help with voter turnout and to keep the Republican Party from veering "into the wild right, which will hurt Idaho and hurt America."
Adler said that voter turnout is key for establishment Republican candidates because "the assumption [is] that there are more moderate members of the GOP then there are hard right wingers."

I don't think Romney is clueless. I think he is malevolent.

I agree 110%!

Amen, Bro FReeper, on the following:

I DO NOT WANT TO DEAL WITH ANOTHER ROMNEY RUN.

What you and I want vs. what you and I are most likely to get, are very different from each other. What we want is beside the point, irrelevant, a distraction.

Everybody on FR had better be expecting pretty much the same Uniparty scenario in 2016 as we saw in 2012. Thinking that GOPe protocol is going to turn around in two years and save the day to give us a limited government Christian conservative nominee, is naive wishful thinking. I hope I'm wrong, but ain't holdin' my breath and neither should any other limited government Republican or conservative. Think of Lucy, Charlie Brown, and football.

Time to start pondering NOW the options and opportunities of third party dynamics, because the overwhelming probability is that the primary protocol of the GOP will once again ENSURE that the GOP nominee is either Romney or someone very much like him -- a statist big-government tyrant who is as pro government as any Democrat.

Everyone here should start getting used to it NOW and think ahead as to solutions, rather than panicked like cornered rats in November 2016 into voting for bigger and harsher tyranny in the vain illusion that you're voting "against" the same.

Yep. He is the Count Dracula of Republican politics. A malovelent force that needs a stake driven through his political heart. If that doesn’t happen — THIRD PARTY TIME.

It’s a simple matter of fact. He’s not Mormon. I’ve met Butch (I’m from Idaho originally) but I have no idea how faithful he is — maybe as faithful as Harry Reid is to Mormonism.

What crappy article. This "quote" is not attributed to Romney and Romney said nothing insulting to the Tea Party. Some of the responses here are just knee jerk.

This does not mean I am a Romney lover, but I but fair is fair.

Oh, yeah....someone should have informed Mitt that "fair is fair" during the primary when he was viciously attacking every other candidate.

He deserves every derogatory remark made about him here.

KC, you voted for Romney, correct? I totally understand it if you did because I voted the same way -- holding my nose -- for years. But like GG2, I am VERY glad that Romney lost; I think American had a very close shave; I think the Almighty came to our rescue, working His wonders in His most mysterious ways.

KC, when you voted for Romney, PLEASE explain here on this thread what you were voting FOR. Don't explain what you were voting "against," but explain what you were voting FOR.

Would what you were voting FOR have resulted in any different kind of mess for this country? Not what you were voting "against," but what you were voting FOR? If you are a Christian, how do you think the Almighty would view America if He saw how many of His faithful had voted FOR an agent of such moral depravity and evil as Romney, with his Gay Youth Pride outreach and on-demand "affordable" abortion even for minors?

Tell me, when you voted for Romney, what were you voting FOR?????????

GG2 and I have finally manned up and faced a hard, cold truth: the only thing that matters is what you vote FOR.

There's nothing more dangerous than a losing major candidate harboring hidden bitterness and resentments for his loss.

We saw Romney rather unexpectedly emerge into the public a couple months ago, slowly but surely....here and there with innocuous statements on this and that.

I immediately thought, oh, oh....here he comes to involve himself in the November GOP primary! And my thoughts were correct.

He wants to be a mover and shaker in the upcoming primary....his timing is impeccable.....he is GOING TO DO SO.

We thought he had buried himself forever in obscurity....but once these egotistical guys have tasted Paree, you can't keep them down on the farm.

He divides the time on his "farms" in California, New Hampshire and currently is living in Boston, Messachusetts.....surrounded in each of his three abodes by "farm-teams"....i.e., networks of GOP-elite party apparatus and activists who tightly control their party's policies in each state.

So we know, as a party establishment elitist, and egged on by other elitists who will be encouraging, advising and USING him, he'll join the primary fray, trying to be as good as Mrs. Palin in influencing primary voters across the fruited plain....beating down conservatives and Tea Partiers at every opportunity....and interferring at every turn in his best John McCain hidden inner-rage mode.

We have to pull our own fury switch on this guy right away. He's at an age now where he's undoubtedly being attracted to an appointed ambassadorship at the Court of St. James, or whatever non-onerous sinecure he fancies to keep himself feeling important and in the limelight again for a few years under a future GOP-e presidency....and he's starting to make his ambitions and moves openly and publicly NOW as we can plainly see.

Leni

The headline is very misleading. The quote isn't from Mitt.

According to David Adler, director of the Andrus Center for Public Policy at Boise State University, Romney's purpose in the state is to help with voter turnout and to keep the Republican Party from veering "into the wild right, which will hurt Idaho and hurt America."
But Romney is supporting the GOPe candidates. No surprise there.

Of course I voted for Romney just like I voted for McStain. Now that they are not running for President anymore look how they talk. Was that what any of us wanted when we voted in 2012? Never again. If they stick Jeb or Crispy or any other RINO on the ticket I’m not doing it again. Neither is Mr. GG2. I say better to let the 1776 solution begin.
