Well, one of the reasons the left hates the military is that in many nations during the 20th century the military stepped up and stopped socialist revolutions before they could get off the ground. In a nation with a capable, effective military staffed with honorable, moral, patriotic men, socialist revolution becomes a near impossibility.
Leftists realize that if they ever want real power, they’re going to have to purge the military first and gut it of any real strength. When you have leftist leaders talking about the need to eliminate wide-swaths of the military while simultaneously reforming what is left to be politically amenable, AND talking about the need to create a civil defense force of “volunteers” that is “just as capable as the military”, then you should read that as Marxists getting rid of potential Francos and Pinochets and prepping their own little army of brownshirts.
I agree. I may be wrong, but I would think that the USA is a little unique in geography and demographics. We may have the most well armed citizenry the socialists have encountered. I also believe that the thugs, sadists and bullies that would comprise the “civilian defense force” will not fare well when they encounter serious resistance from well armed and determined free men. They do best against an unarmed and defeated populace.
While I do believe that a large majority of Americans will do nothing (as they are now not doing), and that most will simply try to “stay under the radar”, I also have faith that a determined patriotic minority will be considerably more formidable that these socialist thugs are prepared for.
