“Kerry hopes”. Is this our foreign policy, wish and hope? Whatever happened to pixie dust and unicorn poop?

Magical thinking is almost the total diametric opposite of critical thinking. The cold hard reality is that the Russian Federation under the Putin regime is bent on territorial expansion, not normally our concern. In fact, expanding their influence throughout the Middle East shifts the burden from the Current Regime to the much more aggressively directed military might of the Russians, and makes it possible for the military forces representing the territory once known as “the United States of America” to be totally withdrawn.

But our absence only makes the future struggle for extraction of energy everywhere in the world a much more dicey and dangerous undertaking. Already the resistance to extracting and applying the energy resources, the main route to accumulated wealth and spreading prosperity, has cost the territory once known as “the United States of America” its leadership in the world, and the toppling dominos of economic collapse have started their destruction of most of the basic freedoms there. The floodgates have slammed shut in many regions of the rest of the world, but because they were built too low for a really massive tsunami, they will be overwhelmed and the destruction will continue unchecked.

At best, the world will know a new Dark Age similar to that following the collapse of the Roman Empire and the rise of the barbarians. Technology will be in check for centuries, and the cheapest commodity around will be human lives.

Or the greenies will be able to declare total success and reduce the entire population of the world to a tiny remnant living in the Stone Age, or worse, as a mutually destructive collections of small bands which practice struggles of annihilation upon each other, much like packs of Tasmanian devils.

With the virus of human population deleted, Gaia may once again return to the pristine conditions of the absence of humanity. Unfortunately, there shall be none to enjoy it, as mice and birds just do not care.

Revised title: “Kerry hopes Russian will not remember we need their cooperation over Syrian weapons”

Mister “no options are off the table” now wants to be mister “can’t we all just get along”? This is embarrassing.

John F. Kerry wants to have it both ways. I’m wondering what Sergei Lavrov must be thinking today.
