Indiana Becomes First State To Back Out Of Common Core
NPR ^ | March 24, 2014 | Eyder Peralta

With the stroke of Gov. Mike Pence's pen, Indiana became the first state to back off implementing a set of national standards for grade-school education.

The standards, known as Common Core, had been adopted by 45 states, but have lately unleashed a political fight that blurs party lines.

"'I believe our students are best served when decisions about education are made at the state and local level,' said Pence in a release about Senate Bill 91.

" 'By signing this legislation, Indiana has taken an important step forward in developing academic standards that are written by Hoosiers, for Hoosiers, and are uncommonly high, and I commend members of the General Assembly for their support,' he said.

The next few days paper is going to be a terrible read. The editorial pages will be full of trash.

So a divorced, bitter woman (curious why she is divorced) is willing to let the government rule her children’s lives. For some, you cannot open their eyes. My guess is she is drawn to your wife’s independence, while she gives over her own. Interesting that they are close friends.

We need to hold on to the conservatives we have here in Iowa to counter all of the WORTHLESS RINO/GOP-e that infest this state.

Good for our neighbors in Indiana!

Education, like health care, is inherently a local process. Outside meddling can serve only to confuse the process, and hinder each child's progress.

America's Revolution was against outside meddling in local matters. That is why the Constitution, for example, conferred no Federal role in civilian education. Those who push either for a Federal role--or even as some adored by the Leftwing media, for an International role--have a neurotic agenda for uniformity in human affairs: The Equivalent of making it compulsory to force square pegs into round holes.

"IT WAS FOUNDED THAT WAY!"

I've been saying for years it was The United States IN America, not OF America until Washington changed it. I wonder if our highway dollars will be cut off, or education tax dollars will be reduced because of it.

I bet dollars to donuts we are made an example of for this in some way or other to keep the other 49 in line.

Preaching to the choir, I haven’t been nice to her for a long time now, but now that she started insulting anyone who wants to live in this state my wife is seeing things for what they are.

There is a major problem with Common Core imo.
Common Core State Standards Initiative

The revised list of basics that need to be taught in schools are as follows:

We're evidently not learning from our mistakes.

No, it’s not. All celebrating this “victory” need to read the story linked by wita. We’ve been hoodwinked again.

Texas was one of the five states that didn’t adopt Common Core in the first place. But. We have our own curriculum problem. Google “CSCOPE”.

Are we still in the whining phase of this, as our children are being reprogrammed.

Stop! Politicias are not and should not be given crge of our kids.

MY hair hurts!!

Parents have a responsibility to God, the community and to their kids.

They are in charge of this, ultimately

For anyone to say they are victims of public schools and of lying politicians, no.

This was written about in 1995, at least. Beverly Eakman, had it, as did many people.

Parents know about this. What are they doing about it? Get your kids out of there. Geeze. Quit whining and DO something

Here’s a quote & link from 4 years ago (FOUR) that’s a whole high school career:

http://vimeo.com/10087041

This program, as explained by Johnnette S. Benkovic, discusses how Beverly “maintains that the education establishment is stealing the minds of a generation of children in order to create a wrenching transformation of our society. In books and speeches, articles and expert witness testimonies, she has chronicled and heralded how our children have been coerced to become anti-property, anti-industry, undiscerning, sitting ducks for the global citizenry of tomorrow. How has this happened and where will it lead?”
