1) Provide incentives for farmers to grow corn. Farmers start growing corn instead of wheat, bean, etc.

2) Burn the corn.

3) Wonder why food prices have increased.

$6-$15 - it takes a long time to chew them up. Nice hickory stick. Get any lumber out of it?

Firewood. Most of the trees are hardwood here. Sadly, we are taking down all the white ash around the home. The disease has spread to our parts.

The hickory is a bit testy to split, however it does have about 24 million BTUs per chord. It burns well in our wood stoves. That one was a surprise when it fell. It was a twin shag bark of the giant nut variety. No signs of problems else I would have dropped it. There is about a 1/4 acre grove. I was a little bummed, but happy it went down at an angle.

I season for two years and it will not go to waste. Just kind of stunned and humbled that it fell. Really humbled and happy it missed.

Thanks for the link. On Amazon's wish list.

Hens are amazing. Nearly an egg per day each. They must eat a ton.

That’s about what we get. They are entertaining when I mow the lawn. They follow me around and grab all the bugs tht are trying to get out of the way.

Or....if a Rep candidate just promised to link or match increases in food stamp and welfare benefits to social seurity benefits...that would be enough to win big. Welfare COL increases have gone way up compared to the miniscule ssn increases. It figures, since ssn is the only program where people actually paid into it.
