In fairness, you would think that sailors other than SEALs wouldn’t need to be skilled at hand to hand combat.
I don’t know what training after boot camps minimal hand to hand is taught in the fleet but I was Navy Seabees and we trained whenever we were home ported. When we were deployed there was always opportunities to study martial arts such as judo. We also had boxing smokers that any level of proficiency could participate. I don’t recall us being any more bad ass than other groups.
