2nd Vote – A New Tool For Conservatives
Conservative HQ ^ | 3/27/14 | Chris Walker

“Follow the money.” That phrase was made famous in the 1976 movie, “All the President’s Men.” Robert Redford and Hal Holbrook met in a dark parking lot at 2:00 am in the morning, which Bob Woodward said was in the bottom level of an underground garage just over the Key Bridge in Rosslyn. The phrase has withstood the test of time because it is a simple explanation for many things in life. If you want to know why a decision is made in government or in business, most likely, it has to do with money.

This is the premise of our new organization, 2nd Vote. We have built the most comprehensive database that helps conservatives follow the money that they spend on every day purchases towards the issues important to them.

Individuals have a vote every day, not just Election Day. When you purchase coffee, gas, or an airline ticket, the dollars you spend are a vote for various causes. Companies take the money you spend with them and then donate it to organizations they support. Unfortunately, some of those donations go to groups supporting a leftist agenda like Planned Parenthood and the Human Rights Campaign.

As conservatives, perhaps we might not support Human Rights Campaign, or we might not vote for a candidate whose votes align with the Humans Rights Campaign. Yet, by shopping at certain companies, our money goes to organizations which support these efforts. In 2013, the Human Rights Campaign had a budget of over $53 million dollars and $16 million of this budget came from corporate and foundation grants, and individual donors.

Why do companies give to these left-wing organizations? In an estimated 50/50 nation, or as we believe, a majority center-right nation, why do companies like Coca-Cola and Apple donate large sums of money to organizations that advocate and support far-left policies that are out of the mainstream of our nation? Don’t these companies value the opinions of all their shoppers, not just a vocal and aggressive minority?

The answer is simple. Conservatives have not held their dollars accountable when they shop, and 2nd Vote is the solution. Our organization scores companies on how conservative or liberal they are based on various issues. Whether it’s the 2nd Amendment, pro-life issues, or Corporate Cronyism, we follow the money and show you what organizations are funded by corporate donations. We also reveal information such as whether a CEO is active on specific issues or not.

The 2nd Vote App is free to download, and available on your smartphone or on the web. The app provides an opportunity to educate yourself on how you spend your money and helps you make informed choices. Conservatives should works towards supporting organizations and groups which are aligned with our liberties, freedoms, and the values we feel are important in our lives.

You have a vote, and not just on Election Day. With 2nd Vote, you can use it just as effectively as your first vote.

You can find more information at 2nd Vote's website. http://www.2ndvote.com/ Please follow us on Twitter: @2ndVote, and Facebook.

The following quote from the article is both a very good point and it highlights a current issue regarding Hobby Lobby: corporations DO have values and practice them. Why should we support those who fight against us?

I am not personally familiar with 2d Vote, but I will check it out. Beyond that, each of us can start taking note of those companies that are fighting against our deeply held rights and beliefs and start our own personal list.

For it to be effective they’re going to need to distribute it to millions of people. I like the concept.

It would help many if you would write them and explain that.

downloaded to iPhone.
You have to sign up and give an email address.

Slow website

It rates companies on a scale of 1 to 5 (liberal to conservative), and you can examine how they came up with their rating.

Chick-fil-A gets a 4.3. Hobby Lobby a 3.8.

I thought Dominos was conservative, but it gets a 2.5. Neutral on abortion, marriage and environment, but bad points on 2nd ammendment (has a no weapons while on duty policy).

Ben&Jerry’s gets a 1, of course.

We really need this ap to send an email to the company we don’t like saying: “I spent $156.82 at your competitor (Chic-Fil-A) today because I do not like your liberal corporate policies.

I just heard about this on the John McCulloch radio show, On the Patriot.

It's a cool idea that got me wondering how my company would score and suddenly it dawned on me. Poorly I'll bet.

We're in liberal heaven (Detroit), and to some degree conservatives don't even exist here. But I'm going to take a closer look at the very limited number of charities we support and evaluate things.

As usual. When I find something new like this and I check it out here, you guys have already been there!
