I wonder if there is any correlation between the age of the mother and the occurrence of autism.

After all, women are waiting longer and longer to have kids.

150 years ago women regularly had kids in their 40’s. They had kids till the kids just stopped showing up.

Having kids in your 40’s is definitely not a new thing. Look up your own family tree if you don’t believe me. It was quite common, especially in rural families for women to have kids beginning in their mid/late teens every 18m-2y until they were in their mid 40’s.

Actually, they’ve found it’s more the age of the father, than the mother. Older dads tend to have a higher incident of autistic kids. But, your point about people waiting longer to have children remains valid.

The mother, in this case was 26. We are taking care of him as we’re the legal guardians.

I think there is some research showing a link between autism and age of the father at conception.

I wonder about that too. My wife was 43 when she gave birth. I don't see any young parents at my sons school either.

I believe the real culprit is all the electromagnetic radiation that bombards us 24/7. Thirty years ago, we didn't have cellphones and wifi. Today, that radiation permeates every cubic inch of air space. I see a day ahead when liberals will start complaining about the dangers of wifi radiation and demand wifi-free zones in major cities. (Nevermind that they are the ones who pushed for citywide Wifi to begin with just like they did with mandatory car airbags that ended up killing kids riding in the front seat).
