Anything is possible at this point..if these passengers are still alive may God protect them and bring them home soon
This is also why nothing has been found yet:
“Australian officials were in Malaysia over the weekend to urge the Malaysian government to promise that any wreckage recovered during the search would be examined in Australia before being removed to Malaysia.
“They are also asking Malaysian authorities to agree that if the missing planes flight data recorders are recovered, their contents should be examined and analysed in Australia by Australian, British and US experts.
“Such a request may not be received well by Malaysia, which is smarting from criticism about its handling of the disappearance....
“Under civil aviation law, Malaysia, as the country in which the lost plane was registered, is granted responsibility for the investigation.”
Until Malaysia signs over their rights to the investigation to Australian, British, US experts, nothing will be found.
That’s interesting. I think he Wiki reference says detectable “from the surface”.. I think it must mean that an ultrasonic pickup in the water (not a plane above) can detect the pings at the quoted distances. Those figures are quite a bit better than the 2 km mentioned in the article. Thanks.
I am surprised we are not hearing from the enviro-wachos about how polluted the ocean is. Maybe they are still trying to enroll in Obamacare :).
“..as long as it takes the focus off of Obama the media will keep reporting on garbage being found in the Indian Ocean”
That’s right. Before this happened Obama was getting hit hard - IRS, Benghazi, Putin, Obamacare etc. The whole thing has been a welcome distraction from his failing presidency, particularly with CNN.
“Now, is that 2 nautical miles going to work where the ocean is more than 2 miles deep?”
That would depend upon sea conditions at depth, temperature gradients, etc. If, for example, the temperature of the water is somewhat nearly being the same from surface to depth then the sound can travel for greater distances. If there is a layer of significant difference in temperature then the ping of the black box may not penetrate the temperature gradient.
Actually if you go on twitter and search MH370 you see some environmental freaks going on and on about how “Sad” it is that so much trash is in the Indian Ocean..perhaps they should go and clean it up
Let the conspiracy theories continue.....
Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t it true that not a single piece of debris or anything else has been found that can definitely be linked to the missing aircraft, yet the Malaysians have said it definitely crashed in the southern Indian Ocean?
The media is wacky. No data came from the engines after the aircraft went missing. All comms ceased right at the time the transponder and ACARS were turned off.
The pings were only from the Satcom antenna system. It regularly “pings” the aircraft to see if it’s still available to accept data. No data was sent, there were only the pings indicating the system was up and running and able to send/receive data.
Basically, “Are you there?” “Yes, any data?” “No.”
All of the pings, except the final partial one, were initiated by the ground system on it’s normal schedule.
The final partial ping, the start of a ping, also referred to as a “handshake”, was initiated by the plane, possibly indicating that the Satcom antenna system had lost power, and tried to handshake when it powered up briefly. No ping occurred, just the attempted handshake link.
That is true...not a single piece of debris.
RE: Correct me if Im wrong, but isnt it true that not a single piece of debris or anything else has been found that can definitely be linked to the missing aircraft
YOU ARE CORRECT, SO FAR.
Ideally you would need to get your listening device closer to the presumed depth of the pinger.
Tow it deep, or use an ROV that can go deep.
30 days is supposed to be the minimum battery life.
Most likely, the battery will last considerably longer.
I am beginning to believe what I said earlier. The plane will be found a long time from now, by someone who is not looking for it.
No kidding. Did you see the thread this morning with the YouTube video of the old CONELRAD attack scenario exercise? Back in 1962, the news reporting model was to break in with a message like: "Major explosions reported in Washington, D.C., New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Portland. No details yet on fatalities or injured. Now, we return you to Password, already in progress."
I don’t think they are going to “find” anything until Malaysia officially signs over rights to the investigation to US/British,Australian entities.
And it appears that Malaysia is not budging on that.
As it stands now anything the searchers find including black boxes have to be turned over to the Malaysians who can’t even get their transcript from ATC right without inventing stuff.
it’s at the bottom of the ocean
They will know exactly where it is just as soon as it flies into a building.........</conspiracy theory>.
“I still go with it was taken for the hostages or for what they knew.”
Was there someone(s) with unusually valuable knowledge aboard?
