A triumphant White House press secretary Jay Carney stopped short of saying 'I told you so' on tuesday, but chided a sparse press corps in the briefing room at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for ever doubting that the Obamacare system would enroll 7 million Americans.
'At midnight last night we surpassed everyone's expectations,' he boasted, 'at least everyone in this room.'
Carney announced an enrollment total of 7,041,000, not including stragglers who waited until march 31 to sign up on some state-based enrollment websites.
But while he took great pains to enphasize that the number would grow – saying 'we're still waiting on data from state exchanges' – he dodged tough questions about other statistics that reporters thought he should have had at the ready.
Those numbers included how many Americans have paid for their insurance policies, and are actually insured. Also, he had no answer to the thorny question of how few signups represented people who had no insurance before the Affordable Care Act took effect.
Numbers from one study, a RAND Corporation effort that has been kept under wraps, suggests that barely 858,000 previously uninsured Americans – nowhere near 7 million – paid for new policies and joined the ranks of the insured by Monday night.

Why would anyone believe the Obamacare numbers given out at the “deadline”....the biggest April Fool’s joke of the decade....sadly the biggest joke (scam)is on those who think their healthcare will have them covered and be there when they most need it.....nothing could be further from the truth if these train wrecks continue unabated...some will have coverage, many will not. Congress, some civil workers, Senators, Unions, don’t even have to sign up...certainly not Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid and their people....

I recall a RAND corp study that was detrimental to Bush's foreign policy...and it was TRUMPETED IN THE MEDIA!
Bottom line is, I suspect: they signed up charity cases who have been promised: 1. their premiums will be subsidized 2. the penalty will be applied to their government `paychecks’ if they refuse.
If the White House says they signed up 7 million Americans who will make Obamacare a viable, going concern, they’re lying.
I *could* believe they got 7 million signed up, but the vast, vast majority are those who would be so heavily subsidized (the reeeeaaally poor)that their premiums would be extremely low - and of course almost entirely subsidized by real tax payers. Besides, 7 million signed up is NOT the same as 7 million who signed up and actually paid the premiums. Such BS.
