I have long wondered why the CIA didn’t take a bunch a captured Taliban and reprogram to take out the Taliban leadership. We definitely have the technology to do so, and the effect would be devastating at all levels of their operation.

They could even use surgery to implant him with very powerful explosives, turning his skeleton into deadly shrapnel. With a vest of explosives, they could take out much of a radical madrassa, killing dozens of terrorist recruits.

The current administration's policy is that the problem is 'extremism', rather than any particular worldview (such as Islam, the Taliban, etc). This reluctance to name the enemy allows the enemy to flourish, which we understand to be the actual policy.
