Shoved down our throats like Obamacare. Dictated by a committee in Washington DC.
So, what difference is CC from No Child Left Behind?
“Commie Core”
I like the name.
This is Alinsky philosophy stuff being used to lower the freedom of parents determining their childrens education.

Yep.
Very good movie. I was opposed to Common Core before watching it, and am even more opposed now, but also better armed with reasoning as to why it should be opposed.
I am in the same position. Please, please, share the link with others. Education is important.

Common Core takes the fed's role in education another step further.
Under NCLB, if a public school did not reach its own state's standards, federal funding could be removed from the school.
But, Common Core sets federal standards, and most of the states decided to sign on to CC. That may sound like a good idea, but there is controversy about the standards. For example, one complaint is that, under CC, the correct answer to a question isn't correct unless a student writes the reasoning behind it.
CC will affect everyone, even students in private school or home school, because by 2016 the SAT will change to match CC.
That's my understanding of the issue, anyway.
I don’t care about Common Core because the WONDERFUL schools that my children attend would NEVER implement something that silly. No, OUR schools are better than that, we know the teachers, the principals, the school board. They (mostly) have children in our schools, so this will NEVER happen here. Nope...only in those OTHER schools.
(how FReepers STILL rationalize sending their kids to public schools, despite all they read here)
Thanks.
