As a Marine I walked guard duty plenty of times, I was never armed in the USA. Always and empty M14. Now over seas was different it depended on the duty, but garrison duty in the USA, no live amno ever for us regular grunts.

Soldiers on military bases here need to be armed, especially when you hear about someone a few days saying they would do something like this, a guy named “Booker” who converted to Islam who said he would commit a “Ft Hood Style attack” yet our brave men are not allowed to be armed, it makes no sense

I walked guard duty at Fort Hood in early 70’s and I was armed with my M16 and a full magazine. I also was armed when hauling arms and ammo from Red River Depot to Fort Hood. Times have changed I guess.
