I have a 2008 Smart Car. It is PERFECT for the city. I can park anywhere any time. I squeeze into all the little, itty bitty places while the HUMUNGOUS newer cars have to bundle along and pay the big prices to park their behemoths.

===========================

I have a 97 Ford Taurus for the freeway. It was my mother's. She stopped driving it when it had 5000 miles on it. It has 22,500 miles on it now. It's like new.

===========================

My husband bought only older cars. I had a 1975 LTD station wagon, bought in 1990. It was yellow with brown. The turn signals didn't work. My husband told me: Just start moving to the right or left lanes, VERY slowly and everyone will let you in.
Lol. He was right. There were many who objected but there wasn't a DANG thing they could do about it. It drove on the freeway like a dream...what a boat!

One young guy was trying to turn right but couldn't because I was making a left into him.
He looked at my car and kept saying: "F...ing big car! What a f...ing BIG car. F...ing BIG CAR!!!"
He couldn't believe it!

I enjoyed driving that car. It finally died, a quiet noble death.

I hauled my five kids around in an LTD wagon. No seat belts,windows down,terrific.

Good memories.

I remember the first car I drove. It didn't get very good gas mileage, and it didn't have a speedometer, but there was never any problem with traffic. PLUS, you could park it anywhere, even if there wasn't enough space.
