Not a fan of Microsoft, but I am running Windows 7 in VirtualBox under Ubuntu. Win7 does have an emulation mode that works back as far as ME (I believe). Doesn't work for everything but if you haven't actually tried running your stuff in XP emulation mode (which should be solid as houses) I wouldn't assume that it won't work.

With a bit of due diligence against being a moron re clicking .exes and the like,
and given the host of decent & free AV apps out there, along with Malwarebytes' excellent free app,
this may be a bit of 'much ado about little', to paraphrase Bill.

Also, as I don't recall the initial install of MSE being version specific (ie XP v 7),
and as there were always smart young people making XP SPs available for slipstreaming and the like,
I'm guessing that like-minded techies will continue the tradition with MSE updates for XP ?
