North Korea 'is capable of striking U.S. with a nuclear electromagnetic pulse attack'
Dailymail ^

North Korea has the capability to deliver on its threats to carry out a nuclear electromagnetic pulse attack on the United States, it has been claimed.

Dr Peter Vincent Pry, executive director of the Task Force on National and Homeland Security, has reportedly seen a long-suppressed government report that concludes North Korea is capable of using an Unha-3 rocket to carry out an attack on the U.S..

He says the U.S. would be particularly vulnerable to such an attack, as any rocket from North Korea is likely to travel over the South Pole and approach from the south - something American missile defences would apparently be powerless to stop.

Such an attack on the U.S. would cripple the country's defence systems, not to mention cause chaos in any scenario where an electronic device is required - including road, sea and air transport, government and civilian communications and, of course, the throughout entire economic sector.

The leaked Department of Homeland Security report allegedly claims that North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un already successfully practiced an electromagnetic pulse attack on the U.S. in early 2013.

One bomb and we're (the few who survive) back in the 1700's.

If they do, the few lights that they do have will be snuffed out permanently.

The fat little monster would lose all his playthings.

He may be stupid, he may be brutal, he may be insane, but he’s still capable of basic arithmetic, which is why he eliminates whole families of any and all perceived enemies.

Obama, you’d better do something. This might interfere with your golf games and fundraisers.

There is merit to the EMP, but not the over-hype. It would take quite a few EMP’s to do the job; one will just hurt us regionally. Beyond that, the NORK’s would cease to exist about 32 minutes later. I’m sure Canada would get in on the action because EMP doesn’t stop at borders. Mexico? I hope they are spared. Maybe their peep’s here will go home then.

Worry about the open borders and the 20,000 MANPADs
given to al Qaeda, first.

17000 mile minimum, out of a 10k missile. I doubt it.

If they do and succeed, we will not have the means to retaliate.

Yeah but they keep electromagnetising themselves instead. That’s why Kim Jong-un’s hair look like it does.

“North Korea is likely to travel over the South Pole”

Really, what rocket does NK have that can travel to Japan let alone under the South Pole

Basic math and travel time would let you know we have lots of satellites, aircraft and etc that could easily shoot it down.

NK wants more money from Americans - this is just there supporters saying hey, give them money to come talk.

Our president doesnt have the guts to retaliate in any forceful way. And by ‘forceful,’ I mean bomb the daylights out of NK!

It won’t take long for word to get to the submarine fleet. They cant destroy all communications with one nuke. The military has tempest-hardened communications.

The Norks would have just a few minutes to rejoice in their pyrrhic victory before being utterly vaporized.

Even if we had the means to retaliate, the celebrity president doesnt have the balls.

North Korea 'is capable of striking U.S. with a nuclear electromagnetic pulse attack'

If 0bama gets his way with the severe reduction in our nuclear forces, we might have a hard time answering.

>If they do and succeed, we will not have the means to retaliate.

Military electronics are tempest-hardened. Even a hundred nukes won’t be able to take out all the communications.

If the order is given, the retaliation would turn the chia pet’s city into a smoldering radioactive crater.

Everyone here is replying emotionally, saying what they would do if THEY were President after suffering an EMP attack.

But that’s silly —the President is a completely different creature who strongly believes that his duty is to usher in a new Era Of Fairness in which the USA is diminished and has a level of power that is AVERAGE by global standards.

People aren’t considering that such an attack by NK might ENHANCE Obama’s goals time-frame.

It’s likely Obama would make scary speeches but would order NO counter-attack.

More likely he would make a counter-attack that had absolutely no goal other than attending to POTUS appearances.

Hearing sabre-rattling talk HERE is silly.

It’s only dark speculation but I might even consider such reports as POTUS conceptual prep-work for HIM ordering exactly such an attack —UPON *US*.

Puhleeze. Obama doesnt have the sense or courage to pull the trigger!

To believe otherwise is fantasy. Its a different time we live in.

This report and this guy are silly,

http://www.cnn.com/interactive/2013/04/world/north-korea-missile-capabilities/

Missiles cannot get here directly let alone fly via the south friggen pole.
