Ted Cruz: Congress Should Impeach Holder if He Takes No Action on IRS Scandal
breitbart ^ | 4/10/14 | t lee

On the day the House Oversight Committee held Lois Lerner in contempt, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said Congress should impeach Attorney General Eric Holder if he does not indict those like Lerner for their roles in the IRS's targeting of conservative groups. In a Thursday appearance on Sean Hannity's radio program, Cruz said Holder should be impeached for "defying Congress and the rule of law." He said Holder's actions were not in the spirit of the Department of Justice, which Cruz said has "a bipartisan tradition of resisting partisan pressure and upholding the rule of law." Cruz cited examples of Holder's predecessors (Janet Reno and Elliot Richardson, respectively) from Bill Clinton's and Richard Nixon's administrations.

Cruz said he was "very pleased" that Lerner was held in contempt by the House Committee but noted that the Justice Department has not indicted one person eight months after the inspector general concluded that the IRS had wrongfully targeted conservative groups. He blistered the Obama administration for appointing a Democrat who was a bundler for Obama's campaign to head the IRS investigation, and he said that would be akin to John Mitchell investigating Richard Nixon.

Cruz called Holder "the most partisan attorney general the country has ever had."

Just the irs scandal? There’s plenty more than that to put a tracking bracelet on this arrogant asshat so he can always be located wherever he is inside the prison. But, never happen. That’d be racis’.

Every time Cruz speaks, I listen. Same goes for Trey Gowdy. Sorry, my list is short. There are probably a couple of others...but they don’t come to mind just now. Sarah, I listen to what she says.

Congress should impeach Holder just for the heck of it! He’d love it. It will give him a platform to beyotch and whine and cry some more. He’s King Obama’s favorite pet.

Congress had better hurry. He can’t be impeached after he resigns

Cruz called Holder "the most partisan corrupt, evil, venal attorney general the country has ever had."

Corrected for grammar and punctuation.

As an appointee, I don’t think he can be impeached.

They’ll need to indict him for a specific crime, I think.

The attorney general is nominated by the President of the United States and takes office after confirmation by the United States Senate. He or she serves at the pleasure of the president and can be removed by the president at any time; the attorney general is also subject to impeachment by the House of Representatives and trial in the Senate for “treason, bribery, and other high crimes and misdemeanors.”

The office of Attorney General was established by Congress by the Judiciary Act of 1789. The original duties of this officer were “to prosecute and conduct all suits in the Supreme Court in which the United States shall be concerned, and to give his advice and opinion upon questions of law when required by the president of the United States, or when requested by the heads of any of the departments.”[1] Only in 1870 was the Department of Justice established to support the attorney general in the discharge of his responsibilities.

“And impeach Obama. He is behind the whole thing. Oh, and impeach Jarrett, too.”

Nope.

This is Hillary’s operation start to finish.

They would rather have people believe the IRS targeted the “right wing extremist” and TEA Party to get Obama reelected than have people find out what Hillary was actually up to.

Mr. Cruz has a way with words, doesn't he?

“As an appointee, I don’t think he can be impeached.”

Federal judges are appointed as well and can certainly be impeached.

I saw that civil officers are impeachable. This has to include AG.

Holder has already been found to be in Contempt of Congress.

He should be in prison now.

He shouldn’t even have the power to make a decision on what to with the IRS

“He can’t be impeached after he resigns”

He may be easier to prosecute if he resigns, though.

Dems and the media think resignation is some sort of immunity.

Need Cruz in congress, unfortunately there is only one Ted, not enough to go around, wish we could clone at least his spine and put into all the other GOP office holders.

The others lack a spine.

If you go after Holder before election day the Sharptons and Jacksons, will just rabble rouse and try to get out the black vote to help in the midterms.

Thing to do is get the impeachment case all together for the day after election day. Hopefully with new reinforcements being sworn in replacing retiring Dems, the process will swiftly take place. Might even send him to jail.
