The Marines only had me shooting out to 500 yards to earn my multiple Expert awards.
I can hit things out a LOT further than that now.
I have two buddies - former operators - who like plugging feral hogs at over 1,000 yards. For fun. BTW feral hogs move a lot quicker than humans...
They aren’t militia. But they have my back. Me, I’m only good to about 200 yards. Also not militia.

Thats a good point I have old vets at my church who shoot 500 yrds all the time. One guy hands me his M1 and tells me to level the sight put it at the bottom of the ten inch fry pan and “ping” it hits it every time. (I’m using a rest)
He nails it just about every, time standing.
I’m not discounting the militia members skills, but I fear for them because of the Feds numbers.
In the meantime I looking for something in .308 with a utilitarian intent myself.
