It would be a crime for them to use that to access a US based computer owned by an American.

Uh Oh ... Bigger than I first thought. To me this means if someone sits on this information till the next security breach then our accounts, identities, credit cards and all financial information could be emptied overnight or gradually as is currently taking place. Instead of a few waking up to start the day and owns nothing and all your accounts are empty larger blocks of people will wake up to a new reality. Heck, in the right hands a single country a security breach of this magnitude could financially wreck our entire nation. Bin Laden's dream realized. Have always said is not a question of 'if' but of 'when'. Maybe I'm wrong. Have been wrong several times lately but am not comfortable knowing this much information has been compromised.

I suspected this. Whatever “fix” is made to ssl will probably have backdoor access for the government.

So, if I am understanding this, this bug has been around since 2012, millions of machines have potentially been exposed to the bug by the NSA and others, and for the past 6 months millions of individuals have exposed medical, tax, income, and identity information through SSL that is potentially compromised ...

What could go wrong?
